Steve is an environmental geologist with over 20 years of experience in the private and public sectors. He has worked on a wide variety of environmental projects, and has experience with a variety of surface water quality issues, including but not limited to fecal bacteria, sediments, excess nutrients, and chloride. His interest focuses on in-situ remediation methods for nutrients and fecal bacteria, as well as sedimentation in river backwaters as relating to overwintering fish habitat. Steve uses his extensive background and experience in water quality to help guide efforts of PSCW as the Vice-Chair.

In 2022, he received the New Voices in Water Quality in Iowa Award for his work with youth and community water education. Pictured is Steve with his award; more information about the Iowa Learning Farms’ award can be found here.

Steve also serves as a member of the Nahant Marsh Board of Directors and Iowa DNR State Preserves’ Board, and is involved in a number of other water quality and environmental initiatives.

In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, native gardening, and playing the drums. Steve lives with his wife and two kids in the Spencer Creek-Mississippi River Watershed.
