March’s forum speaker is Robb Ewoldt, a full-time farmer in Scott County, Iowa. Over his years in farming his family farm, he has made many changes in his farming practices to preserve water and soil quality, including no-till or strip-till farming, cover crop use, limited application of fertilizers and chemicals, and installing one of the first bioreactors in Eastern Iowa.
As a result, Robb and his wife Jennifer have received several awards, including the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award, the Eddy Award from River Action, the Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award, and the Iowa Soybean Association Advocate for Agriculture Award. Robb is an active advocate for agriculture, performing many interviews for local, national and international newspaper, TV, and radio, as well as welcoming groups to his farm to tell the story of Iowa agriculture.
The family’s Open Farm Day each year invites the public to come to their farm to see farm equipment and talk about farming. Robb is currently an executive board member for the Iowa Soybean Association, and is a past president of the Scott County Farm Bureau. Robb’s presentation will focus on his environmentally-friendly farming methods, but other farm-related subjects may be discussed.
There are 2 chances to see Robb’s presentation. Please RSVP to [email protected] and mention which forum you plan to attend.
