City of Davenport Controlled Burn Info

Partners of Scott County Watersheds will be hosting a monthly educational forum meeting on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016.  The event will be held from 12(noon) – 1:00pm at the Davenport Public Library Eastern Branch, 6000 Eastern Avenue, Davenport, IA 52807.

Dave Murcia, Director of the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center will discuss controlled burns. Prescribed or controlled burning is a technique used in prairie restoration, farming or forest management. Dave will explain the purpose and importance of prescribed fire as a management tool, the requirements for planning and conducting a burn, and local initiatives and case studies to show the success of using fire as a management tool.

Lunch will be provided with a $5 donation.
