Research results from Upper Mississippi River Research Station

Third Tuesday of Every Month, PUBLIC LUNCH FORUM on new, local environmental projects and initiatives.  Noon-1pm at the Bettendorf Fire Station, Surrey Heights Location, 5002 Crow Creek Road, Bettendorf.  This year’s forum dates are; January 17, February 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18, October 16 & November 20. 

January 6-8: Visit the PSCW, Davenport & Bettendorf Public Works booth at BALD EAGLE DAYS, QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue, Rock Island.

March 23-25: Visit the PSCW booth at the FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW and order native plants and learn how you can receive money for landscaping projects, QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue, Rock Island.

April 21-22: Visit the PSCW booth at EARTH WEEK FAIR and learn about the impact pet waste has on our streams, QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue, Rock Island.

May 5: PSCW will host the Garlic Mustard Pull at Fairmount Wetlands, adjacent to the Davenport Library-Fairmount Branch.

May 7: PSCW will have a booth at the Mississippi Valley Growers’ Association BETTENDORF FARMER’S MARKET, 2117 State Street, Bettendorf, 2pm-6pm.  Stop in and visit us and learn about rain gardens, soil quality restoration, native landscaping and funding available for Scott County residents to install these landscape practices.

May 8: Scott County Spring SNAPSHOT Water Quality Monitoring Event, 9am-Noon, Bettendorf Fire Station, Surrey Heights Location, 5002 Crow Creek Road, Bettendorf.

May 19: PSCW will have an exhibit at BETTENDORF PUBLIC WORKS DAY, 9am-1pm at the Bettendorf Maintenance Center, 4403 Devils Glen Road, Bettendorf.

June 9: PSCW will assist with ENVIROKIDS FAMILY FIELD DAY, 9am-3pm along Duck Creek in Middle Park, Bettendorf.

July 9: PSCW will have a booth at the Mississippi Valley Growers’ Association TRINITY FARMER’S MARKET, Trinity Hospital at Terrace Park, 4500 Utica Ridge Road, Bettendorf, 3am-6pm.  Stop in and visit us and learn about rain gardens, soil quality restoration, native landscaping and funding available for Scott County residents to install these landscape practices.

July 14: PSCW will have a booth at the WATERSHED FESTIVAL, Davenport Freight House Farmers Market, West River Drive.

July 23-27: JR. CONSERVATIONIST DAY CAMP offers opportunities for kids to learn valuable skills about the natural world through environmental games and crafts, scavenger hunts, fishing, water sampling, canoeing, kayaking, nature hikes and MUCH MORE!

August 11: Join PSCW at North High School, 626 W. 53rd Street, Davenport, for X-STREAM CLEANUP. Invasive species and woody vegetation will be removed from rain gardens on site.

October 9: Scott County Fall SNAPSHOT Water Quality Monitoring Event, 9am-Noon, Davenport Public Works Building, 1200 East 46th Street, Davenport.
